Safari Itinerary

On this 7 days safari, you will experience the best of Tanzania’s wildlife attractions in the northern safari circuit; you will experience Tarangire National Park,  Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti plains.

Serengeti is a land of extensive rolling plains, strange rock formations and magnificent sunsets; it is a serene savannah teaming with an abundance of wildlife. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unflooded caldera in the world and it is home to a huge variety of African wild animals; here, more than any other place in Africa, you are most likely to see the big five within a few hours of game viewing.

Lake Manyara national park is a place of large flamingo flocks, lions that dare to climb trees and a beautiful soda lake – all nestled within the walls of the Great Rift Valley.  At Tarangire National Park, giants dominate the land; here large herds of elephants roam freely under giant ancient baobab trees.

Upon arrival at Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport, our driver will drive you to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on the time of arrival you will also have time to explore the city of Arusha and go shopping for souvenirs at the local Maasai Market. If you arrive late, do not worry, you will still have time to go shopping on the last day of Safari.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel in Arusha.

After breakfast and briefing in Arusha, our tour guide will drive you Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival you will head to the park for a game drive until lunchtime; lunch will be served and thereafter you will head back into the park for an afternoon of extensive game viewing.

It is commonly believed that Tarangire is home to Africa’s largest elephant concentration; here you will see elephants up close since they are used to the presence of visitors and do not shy away from humans. Other animals that can be seen in this park are waterbucks, baboons, impalas, hippos, Masai giraffes, warthogs, hyenas and resident lions. You may also spot leopards, cheetahs and pythons curled on trees.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at a lodge/ a wilderness camp around Tarangire National Park.

After breakfast, you will be driven to Lake Manyara National Park for a day of game viewing.

Lake Manyara is a park located under the western escapement of the great rift valley; about two-thirds of the park occupied by a shallow extensive alkaline/soda lake. The lake attracts large flocks of pink flamingos and a variety of other migrating water birds.

The other remaining parts of the park are largely made up of acacia forests; inside these forests, you will see giraffes, wildebeests, buffalos, hippos, zebras, warthogs, resident lions and elephants. On rare occasions, leopards and cheetahs can be spotted. Baboons and monkey are also found in the tall trees inside the forests with the park.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at a lodge in Karatu.

After breakfast in Karatu, you will be driven into the Ngorongoro Crater for a day of game viewing.

Within a few hours, Ngorongoro Crater offers the best chance of seeing the big five – lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and herds of buffalos in a relatively small area. Within a few hours of entering the crater floor, you will spot the big five and along with them, you will also see waterbucks, elands, bushbucks, Grant’s gazelles, Thompson gazelles, hyenas and a huge array of bird species.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at a lodge inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

After breakfast, you will be driven from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the savannahs of the Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge. At Olduvai Gorge, you will view fossil and footprints of early humanoid dating back millions of years.

The Serengeti is a land where thousands of wildebeests, buffalos, zebras, impalas, antelopes, and gazelles roam and graze across the open savannah. Along the great herds, you will find Africa’s finest predators tagging behind ready to grab an easy meal; you will see lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at a lodge/ a wilderness camp inside the Serengeti.

A full day in the vast plains where you will get to experience the best of what the Serengeti has to offer. You will enjoy an extensive morning of game viewing and after lunch, you will also proceed for an extended afternoon game drive.

The areas you will visit inside the Serengeti will depend on the location of the great herds. During the short rainy season of November to December, the great herds tend to move from the northern hills towards the southern plains. During the long rainy season of April to June, the herds move back north to the hills.

Although locations of herds vary from year to year depending on the amount of rainfall, our guides are experienced, so they know where to find the animals; due to their experience, they also know where the best vantage points can be found.

Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at a lodge/ a wilderness camp inside the Serengeti.

After breakfast in the Serengeti, you will start your journey back to Arusha. Our guide will drive you slowly as you continue to watch animals along the way. Depending on your departure plans, you will have the opportunity to shop for souvenir along the way or at the Maasai market upon arrival in Arusha.

Lunch will be served in a select spot, and after that, you will continue with the drive back to Arusha where you will arrive early in the evening ready for dinner and overnight accommodation or an airport transfer depending on your prior booking arrangements.
