Ruaha National Park is named after the great Ruaha River which flows along its south-east edges and is the lifeline of the park. Ruaha offers super wildlife in a wild landscape characterized by rocky escarpments and hills colonized by giant baobabs.

Ruaha has one of the largest concentrations of predators in Tanzania; lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyena, wild dogs, bat-eared foxes, and jackals roam freely here. Big game animals such as elephants and buffaloes are found throughout the park. Zebras, giraffes, Grant’s gazelles, greater and lesser kudus, sable and roan antelopes, waterbucks, and impalas are resident in the park.

The best time to visit Ruaha is during the dry sunny season; as the rivers dry, animals congregate around the remaining water sources and this serves as great opportunity to see large concentrations of animals and predators hunting.
